Education: Temple University, J.D. (cum laude), 1988; Haverford College, B.A., 1982
Admitted to Practice in Pennsylvania State Courts

Mark Aurand has practiced law in the Lehigh Valley for almost 30 years. He has assisted non-profit organizations in all kinds of legal matters, including by way of example with respect to their formation, in obtaining state and federal tax-exempt status, in board governance matters, and in reorganizations and mergers, and has served as borrower’s counsel in connection with several tax-exempt, bond and New Markets Tax Credit financings.

Mark currently serves on the Board of Directors and as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO). He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown, the Board of Directors of Lehigh Valley Social Impact Center, and as President of the Board of Directors of the Community Music School, Allentown, as well as on the Ethics Committee of Phoebe Home.

Area of Expertise:   Grant Writing

Oliver is an innovative, detail-oriented, and thorough researcher that understands the big picture of nonprofit financials, can build relationships with funders, and has a knack for writing and the art of subtle persuasion.

As the sole development personnel for a small but rapidly growing non-profit, Oliver's success in grant writing is linked to the philosophy that a successful proposal balances a logical argument and a compelling case that evokes empathy. He has demonstrated success in the realms of foundation, government, and corporate grants and has received awards from both local, state, and national funders such as Pennsylvania Department of Family Health, Open Society Foundations, Elton John AIDS Foundation, National Network of Libraries of Medicine, and Puffin Foundation West.

Oliver is the Development Manager at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center and teaches Research and Composition at Lehigh Carbon Community College. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood Keystone and the Center for Humanistic Change, as well as the Marketing Committee for the Downtown Allentown Business Alliance, the Nominating and Governance Committee for the Allentown Arts Commission, and the Pennsylvania Community Alliance Summit Planning Committee.
